We've not featured an English IPA in a while, so it's time - Arcadia Ales' IPA, served at the Erie Ale House. Arcadia Ales' description: "Dry-hopped with Columbus hops in our open fermenters, our IPA boasts a bright floral aroma and flavor reminiscent of pine and lemon peel. The pronounced hop bitterness is balanced by a medium-bodied caramel and biscuity malt character with a nutty finish. It showcases many subtle earthy bitter notes, rather than the resinous citrus-rind bite often featured in…See More
Join us for the return of Hofbrau's Maibock! Last April we had such a great response at Molly Brannigan's we thought it was time for it to re-appear at Erie Beer Society. Hofbrau's Maibock is primarily a malty beer from the German brewing tradition with little hop character - neither bitter nor aromatic - though the style typically has a little more hops than the standard Bock. The color is golden to light brown or amber.Beifall! (That's "Cheers" in German) JeffSee More
This month we're featuring Magic Hat's Heart of Darkness, a roasty stout that weighs in at 5.7% ABV.Magic Hat's description:"Filled with the howling of black dogs that haunt the long forgotten shadows of the human soul Our inky-black stout had a smooth, round palate with a dreamlike undercurrent of bittersweet chocolate. This dense liquid-silk summoned hope from hibernation and balanced winter’s endless white snows with a rich swirl of creamy black rapture."See you there!JeffSee More

Get ready for a fun meeting. Karaoke, Rock Bottom's Madame Berry Blonde...and more karaoke. It's rare to see a Rock Bottom brew here in Erie, so take the time and join us. Here's a description of this beer: "This local favorite is brewed with copious quantities of strawberry to provide a delightful berry aroma and a subtle fruit sweetness perfectly balanced against the slight tartness of the base beer." Sounds good to me!May the beer be with you. Jeff!See More
I am one and the same. Good to hear from you. I am a retired software engineer living in the San Diego area and spending my summers with my mother in North East. I joined the Beer Society a couple years ago but didn't go to any of their meetings this past summer because I wasn't interested in any of the beers they were showcasing. I've gotten to be a beer snob and like the micro brews made here in San Diego, particularly IPA.
I had actually intended to email you this summer when I saw the blurb in the paper about your "mild" heart attack. I hope you are doing OK. I'm sorry I never got around to getting in touch with you. I was busy with family stuff (weddings, baptisms, etc. ) all summer. I'm now back in Southern California for the winter.
My regular email address is email@example.com if you want to email me direct. Don't know how much room I have here so will close for now.
